Sunderland AFC 2-0 Stoke City
Watmore winner takes Sunderland out of relegation zone.

Patrick Van Aanholt scored his first ever Premier league goal and Sunderland’s first with a Johnson lay off free kick. Duncan Watmore got his second first team goal after finishing past Jack Butland.
The Black Cats looked to build on their last game away to Palace where they won 1-0 and played excellently.
The fans around the stadium remembered Marton Fulop who sadly passed away a week prior to the game. Fulop played for both sides and will be sadly missed by all.
The home side started excellently applying pressure to the Stoke back four.
Sunderland again set up in their 3-5-2 formation (5-3-2) which has worked well in previous outings. However, Jon Walters broke free from the centre backs and latched onto an Eric Pieter’s cross, only to be denied by Costel Pantilimons brilliant save.
The second half quickly came about when Ryan Shawcross was sent off after a second yellow card, bringing down Duncan Watmore who again had an immediate impact after coming on for the injured Jermain Defoe.
Sunderland fans began to see a possible win in sight as the team applied relentless pressure to Mark Hughes side.
The breakthrough came with a superb left footed finish from Van Aanholt into the bottom left corner, Jack Butland stood no chance.
Stoke failed to create many chances and the game was finished off by Duncan Watmore, smashing home Deandre Yedlin’s through ball.

An excellent performance from Allardyces men for the second game running who are now out of the bottom three.
